CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Thank you for your interest in church membership and making Parkwood your home!  Below are some common questions we often receive about membership.
WHAT IS CHURCH MEMBERSHIP?

Membership is an important step for those who deeply identify with the community of faith at Parkwood and are ready to help us accomplish our mission in the church, in the city and beyond.

Membership says, “I belong here,” and God says that believers belong together (Hebrews 10:23-25).

Membership says, “I accept responsibility for my church family’s spiritual growth,” and God says we need each other (Galatians 6:1-2,10).

Membership says, “I am accountable to my church family for my walk with God,” and God warns against spiritual autonomy (Hebrews 13:17; Matthew 18:15-20).

Membership says, “I accept responsibility for helping to get things done,” and God says we all must do our part (1 Corinthians 12:20-27).
WHY BECOME A MEMBER?

Membership tells us that you are formally committing to the mission and vision of Parkwood and are mutually accountable to the leadership. It tells us that you are willing to take ownership of and responsibility for our church family by giving your time, talents and treasures.

Without membership, the government would not recognize Parkwood as a charitable organization. Without that designation, Parkwood would not be able to function as it needs to.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?

Becoming a member at Parkwood is not nearly as scary as it sounds. The membership path is outlined below.

Membership classes are generally held on Saturday mornings at Parkwood. To sign up for the next class, please complete and submit the registration form below.

At the membership class, you will be given opportunity to complete an application for membership should you choose to move forward. You will then be required to attend a short meeting with the membership committee. After you have completed these steps, your your application will be submitted to the Parkwood Deacon Board for approval.
The next membership class will be held in Fall 2024.
