Parkwood Kids exists to ENGAGE FAMILIES IN COMMUNITY, WORSHIP & MISSION.
Our philosophy is that the church and family can do more together than either one can do alone. We want to work strategically, partner intentionally, and program appropriately, so that we can positively influence your child’s future. To support you, we’ve created gatherings that are geared to serving kids, others that are about equipping parents, and some that are meant to engage and equip families together.
What to Expect
SUNDAYS @ 10 AM
Nursery | 0-24 months
Our dedicated group of nursery volunteers provide nurturing childcare, beginning at 9:45 am each Sunday.
Preschool | Ages 2+3
Kindergarten | JK+SK
Each week, our team of leaders provide opportunities for kids to engage in interactive Bible experiences, crafts, group games, discussions, free play, and more! Doors open at 9:45 am each Sunday.
Kid City | Grades 1-5
Our school-agers worship with their families for the first half of our service. They are dismissed mid-service and head down to Kid City, where our leadership team engages kids in worship, interactive Bible stories, and group games. Then the kids head to their Life Groups to take part in activities and discussions that reinforce the day’s teaching.
There is no cost for Parkwood Kids Sundays, but registration is required. Register at the Kids’ Check In Center, located at the Gym Entrance.
We love families, and we want to make sure your family is cared for when you visit Parkwood. With this in mind, we have a dedicated space for nursing mothers. The Nursing Mom’s room has comfortable chairs, a changing station and a audio feed from the service so you won’t miss a thing!
The Nursing Moms room is located just inside our Nursery, and opens at 9:45 am. To respect everyone’s privacy, this room is for women only.
There are additional baby change stations in our three main sets of washrooms, both male and female.
WEDNESDAYS @ 7 pm
(September through May)
Kidsplosion is our mid-week discipleship program for students in JK-Grade 5.
Some nights are kids-only. On these nights, our leadership team engages kids in worship, interactive Bible stories, group games, discussions, and more!
Other nights are family-friendly (FX nights). Parents and kids come together to experience something amazing. Whether it’s a meal, a worship experience, or a missions opportunity, FX nights are designed to bring families together, and create meaningful, lasting memories. See calendar for weekly details. There is no cost for Kidsplosion, but registration is required. Please register at the door upon arrival.
Our Frontline Kids Choir Program
is for ages 5 to 11 and meet Sunday nights from 6:00 to 7:15 PM during the regular church season in room 404. This is a dynamic program using music, the arts and media to make a difference in lives. Children learn about music, worship and ministry, and have opportunities to minister at some Sunday services as well as nursing homes and other special events. Interested in your child being involved? Contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Keeping your children safe and secure is top priority. Every child (infants through grade 5) is given a check-in tag that is matched with the parent’s identification number. All of our children’s leaders are screened with an interview and federal background check and we have security personnel that monitors the exits and hallways.
We believe that building community within the family of God is of utmost importance. That’s why we begin life groups as early as first grade. These groups are designed to be a safe place for kids to make friends, discuss the Bible, have fun, and build an extended faith family.
Partnering with Parents
When the church and family work together, we can do more than either one can do alone. That’s why it’s important that parents walk their children’s faith journey along with them. We want to partner with parents on this journey.
See calendar for upcoming kids, parent and family events and programs.
We believe there is huge value in following the Biblical example of child dedication. This is a public commitment in which parents declare their intent to raise their child in a Christian home, and follow the Lord’s leadership in the development of their child. In turn, the church family commits to doing all that we can to love and support this child and family, as they grow together in our church.
At Parkwood, child dedication is part of our New Life Sundays.
If you are interested in dedicating your child at Parkwood, please click the button below, and complete our New Life Sunday Interest Form. Someone will be in touch with you with details soon.
