WHAT IS ALPHA?

Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and fun environment.
Attending Alpha is different: there is no pressure, follow up or fee.

WHAT DOES ALPHA LOOK LIKE?

Typically run over nine weeks, each session looks at a different question about faith and is designed to create conversation. It’s just an open, informal and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together. Alpha is run in local communities all around the world, and everyone’ is welcome. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.

Each session starts with a meal and relaxed conversation because it’s a great way to build community and get to know each other.

  1. Following the meal is a short video talk exploring various aspects of the Christian faith.

  2. In small groups guests can ask questions and discuss freely with others.

A Typical Evening at Alpha

At Parkwood, the Alpha course runs on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8 pm, beginning with a full dinner, then a short video talk exploring various aspects of the Christian faith, then a discussion time around the table where guests can ask any questions and discuss freely with others. There is no cost, however, pre-registration is required.

Whether you grew up in a Christian environment or never set foot in Church, whether you are 18 or 88, whether you work, are in school or somewhere in between…Alpha is for everyone.

People attend for a wide variety of reasons. Some want to investigate whether God exists and if there is any point to life; others are concerned about what happens after death. Still, others may have attended church on and off all their lives but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. People come from many different backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints, but all come with the same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives.
